Board of Director: Fred Hammond

Fred Hammond began his professional career the week after graduating College in 1973, first selling AMC products for 2 months, then moving on to work in the Parts Division of British Leyland Motors Corp. In 1976, Fred moved to Volvo Cars of North America where he held a series of positions over a 13-year stay, including developing the first, nationwide, manufacturer sponsored roadside assistance program and owner support program, which is ubiquitous today.

After a five year stint Toyota and Lexus as the Northeastern Corporate Communications Manager from 1989 to 1994, Fred returned to Volvo Cars as Director of Corporate Communications for three years. In 1997 he moved to a private P.R. agency where he was the account executive in charge of all of Porsche Cars North America’s media launches, and Motorsports P.R. in North America for 13 years. He assisted the legendary Bob Carlson, Porsche’s P.R. Manager, with the creation and production of the first four Porsche Rennsport Reunions. In 2011 he returned to his British roots by returning as a consultant to Jaguar Land Rover North America for the 50th Anniversary celebration for the Jaguar E-type. Since 2012 he has been part of the staff in the Jaguar Land Rover North American Archive, taking over as manager after the passing of the beloved Mike Cook in 2018.

Fred is a devoted “Car Guy” who has owned over 65 cars over the years, over a dozen of which have been British, from a 1962 E-type to a 1968 Cortina GT to his current ride, a 1974.5 MGB. A 35-plus year member of SCCA, Hammond is a former amateur racer and Pro Rallyist.
